About this cake
The dholki on top is modelled by hand from sugar paste: barrel body, stretched skin at both ends, and the criss-cross rope lacing piped in a contrasting colour. It is the detail guests pick up first, and it is the reason this cake works best on the dholki night rather than the wedding itself.
The peach and green palette is deliberately soft — it sits well against mehndi-green décor without competing with it, and it photographs kindly under warm marquee lighting where saturated reds tend to blow out.
The base is a stable buttercream over sponge with a fondant collar, chosen so the sugar dholki has something firm to sit on. We transport the topper separately and place it on delivery when the cake is a three-pounder or larger.

Yes, it is modelled entirely from sugar paste, so the whole cake including the drum is edible. It is firm enough to keep as a memento for a day or two if you would rather not cut it.
